Retirement Villages’ residents and staff show real commitment when it comes to investing in good causes and their local communities. 

The list of involvement in local projects, organisation of money-spinning events and recognition is, we are proud to say, long.  

Blagdon Village

  • Music groups formed at the village regularly perform concerts at venues around the surrounding neighbourhood
  • Help for Heroes has benefited financially from a number of coffee mornings organised at the village

Gittisham Hill Park

  • Every third Sunday the village hosts an open church service, well attended by residents and others from the local community, and followed by tea and biscuits
  • A number of events have raised hundreds of pounds for both the Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research
  • Allotments are being established for residents to grow vegetables, herbs and flowers

Roseland Parc

  • Residents supported the launch and joined the Befriending Scheme for the Upper Fal and Roseland area, led by Rev Sian Yates
  • Selected residents worked with students from Falmouth University to produce a film about retirement living
  • Chef Haydn Treneary completed two triathlons in 2011 in support of Help for Heroes
  • The village has contributed time and money to local councillor Bob Egerton’s initiative to introduce speed reduction methods in Tregony
  • The village’s annual Christmas fair regularly raises in the region of £700 for the nearby children’s hospice.

Castle Village

  • With the support of staff and the British Heart Foundation, residents initiated a healthy eating group
  • Regular coffee mornings raise hundreds of pounds for local and national charities

Cedars Village

  • The annual coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care regularly raises more than £1,000
  • Engagement with local planning authorities proved vital during the restoration of the village’s Victorian conservatory, now reopen for the use of residents and their guests

Elmbridge Village

  • The village hall was utilised as a polling station for the local elections
  • Working with the local district council, the village has introduced food waste recycling and improved further recycling facilities
  • With sponsorship from residents, village shopkeeper Kevin Gamble raised £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care taking part in a bike ride

Thamesfield

  • The fee paid by a television company for using Thamesfield as a backdrop was donated to Help for Heroes
  • Regular coffee mornings, often in conjunction with the local WI, raise impressive amounts for a variety of charities
  • A project has been introduced to encourage the recycling of glass at the village

Lime Tree Village

  • Residents are helping children at a local primary school with their reading, gardening and cookery lessons and in return the children are performing plays and concerts at the village
  • 20 residents have installed water butts in their gardens to gather rainwater for use in car washing and plant watering
  • Our kitchen has renewed its Gold Standard for Food Safety with Rugby Council
  • Macmillan Cancer Care, Warwickshire Air Ambulance and Myton Hospice have all benefited from village fund raising events

Moat House

  • Staff regularly engage with members of local charities and disabled clubs
