Living Here

The Moat House is set on the fringes of Great Easton village, around three miles from the picturesque town of Great Dunmow – originally the site of a Roman settlement. Great Dunmow offers a number of individual shops, convenience stores and a sizeable supermarket. There are also leisure facilities, restaurants and pubs within the town.

Surroundings are important to peace of mind, which is why we take the time to create bedrooms that are attractive and carefully furnished. Residents are encouraged to bring their own favourite belongings and small items of furniture to help establish a real home-from-home environment.

There are both single and double rooms, some with en-suite facilities. All are carefully designed for safety and have a help call system, TV and telephone points, as well as vanity units and bedside light. Comfortable communal lounges with television, dining room and light airy hall are among the other facilities offered. The extensive formal gardens also include a lake, a wooded area and meadow.

Residents are encouraged to follow a wide range of their own individual interests and hobbies, in addition to the organised activities already established in The Moat House calendar. Other services available include hairdresser, chiropodist, dentist, optician and physiotherapist. A visiting library calls in regularly. There is a full laundry service.

Visits and services of all religious denominations can be arranged. Visitors are always warmly welcomed at any reasonable time, with no prior notice required.
