Anyone thinking about buying at Tregony’s retirement village, Roseland Parc, can go one step further than simply viewing the properties – they can come and stay! Retirement Villages Ltd introduced its Try Before You Buy scheme earlier this year and it has had an exceptionally high take-up.

“A lot of people are interested in the concept of a retirement village but don’t quite understand how it would work for them,” said Retirement Villages’ Sales and Marketing Director Sarah Burgess. “Spending a couple of days in one of our dedicated apartments enables them to get involved in village activities, talk to residents and really live the experience.”

According to the company, a typical buyer in the 55-plus age group will take an average of 18 months from first viewing to actually moving in day. It is a big decision and quite rightly, not something buyers will want to rush into.

Ann Ayres used the Try Before You Buy scheme: “I came down to stay for a couple of days and I fell in love with it. Everybody was so friendly, I had a great welcome and the apartments were beautiful.”

Mrs Ayres bought a property. She said: “I’ve been having hydrotherapy lessons in the pool for my knees and the hairdresser is very good. I can’t imagine anywhere you could get such excellent standards of meals at such a good price as in our restaurant. It’s a wonderful place and I love having the company.”

Mrs Ayres’ new home is a high-spec two bedroom apartment with her own front door and a host of village facilities which she can use as her own – including restaurant, swimming pool, fitness suite, landscaped grounds, hair and beauty salon.
