National Trust garden expert digging up the facts

The landscaped gardens at Roseland Parc Retirement Village
Local gardening guru John Lanyon will be revealing the secrets of the gardens at Roseland Parc retirement village during a special visit. Visitors are being invited to attend the talk by Mr Lanyon - the gardens manager for Trelissick and Glendurgan National Trust properties - on Tuesday, 8th September. Mr Lanyon will be sharing some of his green-fingered expertise and then taking a walk through the gardens at Roseland Parc in Tregony, near Truro to discuss some of the plants and flowers which flourish on the site.
The gardens at the village, which has the last few apartments left for sale, were originally created in the 1820s when Penlee House – home of the original nursing home on the site – was built. They now feature easy access pathways for residents and visitors, secluded seating and a host of new feature plants, borders and planters.
“Mr Lanyon is incredibly knowledgeable about plants, especially those native to Cornwall and we are delighted he has agreed to come and share some of his insights with us,” said Village Manager Derek Pashley. “We are looking forward to welcoming some of our neighbours to the talk too, giving them the opportunity to tour our gardens with Mr Lanyon.”
The event is running from 3pm to 5pm on Tuesday, 8th September with afternoon tea included. For more information and to book a place – free of charge - please call Roseland Parc on 01872 530972.
