Nursing Home

The Minstrels Nursing Home opened in 1987 and has been providing a comfortable standard of accommodation in a ‘home from home’ environment ever since. All rooms are fully furnished and residents are encouraged to bring in small items of furniture to personalise their space.

There are five double bedrooms which can be used for couples, or single sex shared rooms. In addition there are 38 single rooms, 29 of which are en-suite.

Staff at the Minstrels Nursing Home aim to provide residents with a happy and informal yet stimulating and positive environment in which to live. Individual care plans are produced and reviewed and audited every four weeks and progress sheets are completed at least twice a day to ensure everyone is aware of each resident’s changing needs. Handover reports are produced three times a day to ensure a smooth continuation of care.

There is a large dining room on the ground floor with two lounges and a library for the use of residents and their visitors.

The ethos is to create a ‘home from home’ environment and to that extent residents are encouraged to bring small items of furniture and sentimental value with them to encourage conversation, familiarity and individuality.

Additional services are provided including hairdresser, chiropodist and aromatherapist and staff work with residents to develop an activities programme.



Residential Home

All rooms at the Minstrels Residential Home are fully furnished and residents are encouraged to bring in small items of furniture to personalise their space.

A care plan is put together in consultation with resident, relative and staff. The plan enables the resident to achieve realistic goals and attain maximum levels of independence within their own environment. This plan evolves over a period of two weeks and is reviewed as needs change – but regularly on a monthly basis.

Residents are encouraged to maintain their normal interests and pursuits with friends and family and they are of course free to go out anytime. Assistance can be provided.

Nutritionally balanced meals are an essential part of life at the Minstrels. Every effort is made by the catering staff to meet individual requirements and meals can be served either in private rooms or the dining room.

A range of additional chargeable services are available including hairdresser, chiropodist, dry cleaning, installation of private telephones, toiletries, personal clothing, some social outings and newspapers.
